Sustainability was celebrated at the inaugural Green Carpet Fashion Awards, an event to appreciate eco-friendly fashion people. The event was an initiative of Livia Firth, Founder and Creative of Eco-Age, and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (Italian Fashion Chamber). Chopard was a partner of the event, most distinctively through Caroline Scheufele-designed trophy for the awards.
The award took place on September 24 at Milan’s historical Teatro alla Scala, during the fashion week. Stars walked down the “green carpet” – made from recycled fishing nets and carpets – in ball gowns from eco-friendly materials. Gisele was in a green Stella McCartney viscose dress, sustainably-sourced from Sweden. Zoe Saldana rocked a silk dress from Giorgio Armani archive, handmade in Italy. The host, Livia Firth, wore a head-turning dress with floral applique from Capucci, alongside husband Colin Firth.
Among the awardees were Tom Ford for Best International Designer supporting “Made in Italy” and Gisele for Vogue Eco Laureate Award. Anna Wintour presented the award for Tom Ford, which actor Andrew Garfield received on behalf of the designer. Both were dressed in Tom Ford. Caroline Scheufele designed the trophies, made of ethical Fairmined-certified gold (extracted by small-scale miners recognised by the Alliance for Responsible Mining). and crafted in the high jewellery workshop of the maison. Chopard has been a sustainability champion in jewellery, promoting Fairmined gold and regularly launches sustainable Green Carpet collection.
