Christian Louboutin made headlines when he expanded his namesake label’s Nudes shoe collection last year. The expansion featured pointed flats Solosofia in five shades of nudes – to match women with different skin colours. In Spring this year, Louboutin released an additional two shades. The idea throughout the collections is that of celebrating different ideas of beauty. Yes to diversity!
“Nude is not a colour, it’s concept,” the designer once said.
For fall 2017, Louboutin releases two more heeled styles in the seven shades. Christeriva is an ankle-wrap heel punctuated with nude grosgrain ribbons that resonate with the brand’s biggest all-time inspirations: ballet. Complete with a grosgrain double bow affixed atop a peep-toe, Christeriva takes to an ultra-soft nappa leather base in seven shades of nude.
The second style is platform Cherrysandal. Its chunky design stems from the “Le Temps Des Cerises” theme from Louboutin’s spring 2017 collection. The shoe is fully equipped with a PVC back that secures the foot while also intimating the appearance of a floating ankle strap. Naked shoes, indeed.
A departure from previous Nudes collection campaign with ballerinas, this season’s imagery pays homage to the cheerleaders. Photographers Sofia and Mauro, who are also responsible for last year’s campaign, bring together seven ladies with seven different skin tones. They hold up pom-poms matched to their skin tones, while wearing the new Nudes collection.
“Give me an N-U-D-E-S, what’s that spell?”
“Nudes for all!”
The fall 2017 Nudes collection are available at Christian Louboutin boutiques worldwide.
