Wearing Coach SS18 Collection Like Selena Gomez

5 key pieces to have immediately!

Actress and singer Selena Gomez has been appointed for Coach’s brand ambassador since two years ago. Now, she is in round two for the SS18 campaign. Coach worked with long-time collaborators, including photographer Steven Meisel, stylist Karl Templer, creative director Fabien Baron, makeup artist Pat McGrath and hairstylist Guido Palau. Regarding on the appointment, Vevers says, “Selena has a warmth that’s special, [but] there is also authenticity and realness to her that brings the campaign to life.”

Artist Keith Haring’s iconic illustrations are at the heart of this season’s collection. Based in New York City, Haring had a democratic and accessible approach to art, and an ethos that Coach has long stood for: inclusivity. Coach’s iconic leathers are a natural canvas for Haring’s bold graphics.

The women’s ready-to-wear collection evokes tomboyish femininity with antiqued crystals on sheer tees, satin bomber jackets with rose gold rivets and silk- and lace-trimmed slip dresses that sparkle and shine. These feminine and nostalgic elements are mixed with Coach leathers, shearling and glitter Western booties. Men’s is relaxed with soft suede jackets and outerwear contrasted with cheeky Hawaiian print shirts and Keith Haring graphics mixed throughout. Key bags of the season include the Bleecker backpack and Metropolitan Portfolio and, for women’s, the Camera Bag and the Mailbox—a re-edition of an archival Coach style first introduced in 1972.

“The further extension into ready-to-wear this season has been very much inspired by our Coach girl gang—the way that they wear, party and live in our clothes,” says Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “I love that sort of undone, unprecious glamour and sensuality—it feels very true to the house.”

Also new for spring is Signature—an iconic Coach pattern remixed for the modern girl and guy with a nostalgic feel—juxtaposed with Keith Haring’s artwork, attitude-packed Tea Rose rivets and bold hardware. “With Coach Signature, I liked the idea of customizing it and making it into a canvas for something really personal,” says Vevers. “We’ve taken the familiar and subverted it with a downtown attitude—the unexpected juxtaposition feels very much for today.”

In the BTS, creative director of Coach, Stuart Vevers styled Gomez in various key pieces from the collection. Here are the pieces that we love from what Gomez wore in the campaign:

Burnished leather jacket

There is nothing cuter than a cropped jacket, especially in fur! Those who love outerwear could wear this piece for the summer, and matched it with a sundress!

One thing you can’t miss from the SS18 collection is the dresses! Sequined details, tulles, and elegant yet modern cut dresses are making you look really elegant and quite artsy at the same time. Inspired by the undone, unprecious glamour that has been the highlight of this collection, you need to have one of the dresses.

Charly carry all bag

Rogue bag

A tote bag that doesn’t look too practical yet it can carry your essentials? With pastel hues and soft leather materials, these totes are versatile for you who couldn’t give up your make-up bag, wallets, phones, notebooks, phone chargers, etc.

24/7 PARTY

On the other hand, if you just need to carry your favourite lipstick, wallet, cell phones, and then you are ready to go, then choose these chain-detailed bags with Keith Haring’s Tea Rose rivets and bold hardware. It’s the perfect accessories to have for your eclectic style.

Parker shoulder bag

Heels are great, but boots have more fun! Try something different to your dress combo by mixing your dress up style with not-so-casual boots (in this collections, even the boots are made sparkly with glitter details and looked so well combined with the lace dress!)
