Virgil Abloh is a man on a mission. As one the buzziest designers in fashion, Abloh has been making waves in the fashion scene with his tongue-in-cheek take on fashion, earning him a massive following particularly among millennials looking to make the ultimate fashion statement. The founder of Italian streetwear label Off-White was also recently appointed menswear Artistic Director for French luxury label Louis Vuitton. Back in June this year, the prolific designer teamed up with aluminium luggage experts RIMOWA to launch a limited-edition collection of transparent rolling cabin bags to coincide with the German brand’s 120th anniversary celebrations this year.
Following the exceptionally successful launch, RIMOWA has decided to team up with Off-White to reveal a brand new capsule collection. There’s the “See Through” model which showcases two transparent cases in durable polycarbonate material marked by Abloh’s trademarked crossed-arrows logo and paired with wheels in vivid orange. Those looking for something a little more understated can opt for the “Personal Belongings” model that presents an aluminium case in sleek matte black with the word “Personal” boldly stamped across the front.
All three models from the new collection will also include covetable accessories such as a transparent amenity kit, a set of interchangeable orange wheels, an Off-White industrial luggage belt, and a striped leather luggage tag; while the “See Through” cabin bags will come with a set of three “Miscellaneous” cotton dust-bags. In anticipation of the release of this latest luggage collaboration, Abloh and RIMOWA have teamed up with director Frank Lebon to release a short film which offers a closer look at the street-chic, transparent suitcases.
