The Indonesian chapter of Pernod Ricard, a French company with a broad portfolio of wine and spirits, shows its support for the local art community. On Monday, May 22, the company officiates its collaboration with Ruang Rupa (Ruru), the contemporary artists’ initiative that is pivotal in starting Jakarta Biennale.
The collaboration results in Ruru Gallery, a space dedicated to support local artists’ creativity. The gallery is located in the compound of Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem, a former warehouse that has been re-functioned as an art and culture hub since 2015.
Edhi Sumadi, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Indonesia, explained that the thinking behind the new gallery is to provide a space for art communities as well as the general public.
Pernod Ricard Indonesia’s initiative was done in conjunction with the global “Responsib’All Day”, the company’s global annual CSR effort. This year’s highlights include the building of 80 bee hives around Paris, an answer to the world’s declining bee population due to pollution, as well as the officiation of a facility for adult disabled in Dublin.
