Ronald Liem, Prestige Indonesia’s Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, welcomed more than 200 of the magazine’s high-society friends on Wednesday, December 6 to the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta’s Grand Ballroom for the Prestige Gala 2017 – Christmas Edition. He celebrated Christmas as well as the end of the 2017 with the guests. The event also marked the 13th anniversary of the magazine. It was the first time the Gala took the form of a seated dinner. By 7 pm, ladies and gentlemen dressed in their best evening gowns and suits had started strolling down the plush red carpet. One by one, they made a stop at Prestige’s “Wall of Fame”, where photographers and videographers were ready to capture them in their fabulous attire.
When the euphoria of the red carpet had subsided a little, some of the guests gave us special interviews. “Merry Christmas and happy holidays, Prestige magazine,” wished Finna Huang, the second-generation leader of Sekar Group and President Commissioner of Sekar Bumi, who was our August 2017 cover girl. She added: “Well, I expected a night to remember and it surely is! So, congratulations Ronny and also to his wonderful mother, Maggie Halim. Well done!” Supermodel Kelly Tandiono also gave congratulatory remarks: “Happy 13th anniversary, Prestige! Prestige has always had the best events that I’ve ever been to. And I know I’m going to have a lot of fun tonight, there’s going to be a lot of good food, and lot of cool people!” Meanwhile, Cathy Sharon greeted us with her radiant smile and said: “Keep on being the greatest magazine for the high society of Indonesia, the crème de la crème. And also to publish the best articles, pictures, fashion, lifestyle, and of course, events!”
The guests proceeded to the foyer, which had been decorated with an amazing Christmas theme. They caught up with old friends and met new ones over delectable canapes served by the kitchen team of Mandarin Oriental and luxury beverages provided by Pernod Ricard Indonesia. Ronald personally greeted each of his guests, graciously receiving congratulatory notes from friends of the magazine. Many guests also chose to mingle at the photo booth on the left-hand side of the foyer to capture memorable images, while others explored the upscale products and services offered by the event’s various partners. The Gala partners included The Time Place, Indonesia’s top retailer of luxury timepieces. Magnificent models from many of the retailer’s distinguished portfolio of leading timepiece brands were prominently displayed became a centre of attention for watch lovers. Having opened its first boutique in Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, in 1999, The Time Place was the first retail chain developed by Time International, which boasts some 60 well-known international timepiece, jewellery, fashion and lifestyle brands.
On the left-hand side of the foyer stood a booth for South Korean luxury beauty brand Sulwhasoo. Founded in 1966, Sulwhasoo was created as holistic beauty brand based on Asian medicinal herbs such as ginseng. Today, its comprehensive skin solutions address problems at their roots, using modern science to rediscover thousands of precious ingredients known in Asia for centuries. Sulwhasoo presented its Beauty Package as a door prize and also provided goody bags for each of the guests. “I want to thank Prestige for allowing us to be a part of this celebration. Here’s to your 13th anniversary and more to come,” said Eunsan Jeong, Director of Amorepacific Indonesia. Another booth whose presence was impossible to miss was Heritage Amanah, which stood next to the entrance.

The Gala held a direct donation to benefit Happy Hearts Fund (HHF), an organisation founded by supermodel Petra Nemcova in 2006 that rebuilds hundreds of safe and resilient schools in areas devastated by natural disasters. At 8:30 pm, the lights in the foyer began to dim and MC Cisca Becker requested the guests to come into the ballroom, as the night’s main event was about to get started.
