Agnes Susinto: Defining Femininity

Dior and its ladylike identity shapes Agnes Susinto's perception of femininity.

Agnes Susinto

Agnes Susinto is a breeze in front of the camera. The 23-year-old socialite and younger sister to Angel Susinto is already familiar with posing, especially when it comes to mastering femininity. "Feminine" could well be Agnes' middle name, which pretty much explains her love for Dior.

The French house, which is renowned for its ladylike style, has been like a close friend for Agnes. She has been wearing Dior since elementary school. "I still remember my first piece from Dior. It was a baby blue coat with furs on the collar," recalls Agnes, who spent her formative years living in Singapore. "My mother bought me the coat in Paris when I was still a little girl. I think I was around seven or eight back then."

With a signature style that is classy and elegant, Dior, according to Agnes, "portrays the perfect image of a lady that is feminine yet strong, independent and smart. I can go from casual to formal with Dior, from the comfortable Fusion sneakers to even their heels."

Among all colours, pastel shades are Agnes' favourites. For the photo shoot, one of the looks she picks is a baby blue dress that compliments her soft-spoken personality. For the recent wedding of sister Angel, she also opted for a Dior soft pink gown to wear at the holy matrimony.

"I personally love wearing dresses and skirts," she says. "The cut of Dior dresses flows and fits perfectly." The colours, especially this spring/summer, are all shades of pastel. I also love flowers and colours. That is why one of the all-time favourites from Dior for me is the white mini Lady Dior with floral embellishments.

A VIP of Dior, together with her mother and sister, Agnes has some of the most exciting experience with the house. "It was such a memorable experience when we were invited to dine at the Palace of Versailles' grand ballroom in France with Dior's former Creative Director Raf Simons and his team," she recalls. "I was with my mother, sister and her now-husband. The guests arrived and were escorted to the courtyard where we had light bites and aperitifs. Everyone was in Dior gowns and suits. We were then asked to enter the ballroom where we sat next to Raf and his partner Jean-Georges d'Orazio along with (Dior CEO) Sidney Toledano and all the international Dior team."

Her first experience with Dior fashion show was back in 2015. "It was for the cruise 2015 show. Then after that, I went to a few more with my mother and sister. One of the most memorable was the Haute couture fall/winter in Paris last year."

Agnes earned her bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship and a master's degree in management from the University of San Fransisco. "Both of my graduations were two of my biggest milestones to date. I am happy to be able to celebrate them with my family."

She is now working at her father's company, but that was not before she satiated her wanderlust. Agnes traveled for half a year before focusing on holding the family fort. "I want to keep growing the family company, and one day I will have my own."

Besides, Agnes is pursuing her culinary passion. She is going back and forth to Singapore to take cooking and baking classes. "It is a branch of a company from Shizuoka, therefore they focus on Japanese dishes."
