Kris Sanguanpiyapand

Kris grew up a thespian seemingly in search of a cause – and he found one: inclusiveness. His recent show at Thonglor Art Space, Falling from Heaven, was a rare effort at including the blind in the Thai performance world. Comprising of eight silent films, five actors played 14 characters; the effort followed last year’s performances outdoors and at a university. His talk at TedX earlier in 2015 (where, at 27, he was the youngest speaker) referenced Bertolt Brecht’s belief that theatre was a way to address social injustices; with the help of his Hidden Art Society and Blind Theatre, he is on the path to alter society’s perceptions of the blind, to find a “common middle space”, as he calls it.
