Besides marine leisure, Raffles Marina president Lee is also active in marine conservation and eco-tourism in the region. In 2012, Raffles Marina joined forces with Thailand's Phuket Boat Lagoon and 10 other marinas to spearhead the Aseanarean Bluewater Alliance, aimed at promoting nautical lifestyles and marine tourism in the Aseanarean seas surrounding Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Under his leadership, Raffles established, and maintains, long-term cooperation with the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation on marine conservation initiatives. PCRF now has operational bases in Singapore and Southeast Asia in addition to existing bases in Los Angeles and on board its research vessel. Lee is also one of the founders of the Singapore Straits Regatta which launched its 18th edition in January last year. Lee has helmed Raffles Marina since it opened in 1994 and was, in the mid-1980s, the first Singaporean commodore of the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, founded in 1826.
