John Hardy appoints Hollie Bonneville Barden, a former head designer at De Beers, as its new creative director. Hollie, 29, replaces Guy Bedarida who left the company in 2014. The young jeweller graduated from London's Central Saint Martin's College with First Class Honours, earning the industry moniker "prodigy". Her move to John Hardy, a Bali-based jeweler with strong traditional aesthetic, is a departure from her previous post. Hollie's first collection for John Hardy would be revealed in fall 2017.

"I fell in love with the way that John Hardy jewellery honours both traditional artisanship and innovative thinking. I look forward to bringing my artistic vision and high-end exposure to a brand with such a powerful history."

John Hardy was a namesake jeweler founded in 1975. It gained popularity for its sustainable take on luxury. In 1999, Guy Bedarida joined to head the design team and shaped its aesthetic as what it is today. Bedarida, alongside President Damien Dernoncourt, bought over the company in 2007 after Hardy decided to pursue environmentalism. Hardy moved on to establish the Green School.

De Beers was Hollie's first big gig, having previously worked for studios and small businesses. She is known for her down-to-earth demeanour that roots back to her hometown in a village in Black Mountains, on the borders between Wales and England. However, her love for baubles started early since her grandmother told her stories about her historic jewels.
