Biyan celebrated 34 years of defining Indonesia’s fashion legacy with a heartfelt retrospective show, Benang Merah. Held at the Segara Ballroom, The Dharmawangsa on Wednesday, June 1, a total of 102 ready-to-wear looks were shown at the grand presentation. The theme of the show was chosen to represent the designer’s experiences and memories throughout his long-lasting career. Guests, many of them wearing Biyan, seated behind towering red pillars resembling those from Chinese dynasties. Orchestral music started to play and models appeared in red-accented pieces that bring to mind royal family clothing of the East. At the end of the show, the maestro showed up in his signature all-black ensemble, to a well-deserved standing ovation.
