The new men’s and women’s watches presented by Graff at Baselworld this year might present quite a contrast to each other, but both are enlivened by an exquisite sense of artistry on their dials, and of course the dazzling diamonds for which the renowned British watchmaker and jeweller is revered.
The five unique pieces of the GyroGraff Galaxy for Men, part of the MasterGraff collection, each features a different view of the Earth’s continents from space. The land masses are carved out of the white-gold dial using a laser, and the dial is then hand-engraved, after which grand feu enamel is applied. The dial also features a three-dimensional moon phase indicator at 7 o’clock, a double-axis tourbillon at 5 o’clock and a 65-hour power reserve indicator at 11 o’clock.
Fabulous rotating white-gold flowers, meanwhile, adorn the Tahitian, blue or pink mother-of-pearl dial of the Floral Tourbillon. Three of the flowers, at 8, 9 and 12 o’clock, are delightfully animated, while they sit alongside a manual winding tourbillon at 5 o’clock, all complemented by the watch’s softly rounded hands and white-gold case.
