Belles of the Bush Reborn

Renovations to a pair of luxurious properties re-imagine African-safari style

Adventure/”experiental” travel specialist andBeyond has re-opened two of its southern African properties following extensive renovations. Its Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp, located in the famed inland delta of Botswana that’s renowned for the diversity of its wildlife, has been updated with an entirely new look in its suites and main guest areas that re-defines African-safari style, with a profusion of earth tones, neutral colours and mirrors. The camp’s pool area has also been refreshed, with new salas in which guests can recline while enjoying views out across the delta. Meanwhile, in the heart of South African Zululand, Phinda Rock Lodge is also in operation once again after closing for a full-scale refurbishment. Constructed in traditional African adobe style, the lodge has been entirely redecorated, using woven linen, embossed cotton and Persian rugs in guest areas for a look that’s sumptuous, elegant and yet marvellously casual, while outdoor decks have been reconfigured as spacious and shaded private lounge and dining areas. Rarely has safari style been quite so swish as in these exquisitely revitalised havens in the bush.
