She should be 200 pounds and have an “at risk” chin. But looking at Jessica Jann’s petite frame and proclivity to burst into an elfin smile, one would never guess that this affable gal can eat – and how. Her social-media presence and popular blog Eat With Jess reflect a willingness to try any dish or drink and to embrace carbo and calorific meals with abandon – while she manages to maintain modelling and acting careers (she’s currently working on a film with Jean-Claude Van Damme).
“I love food and have always loved to explore the restaurant scene, and Hong Kong has so much to offer,” she says while reminiscing on how she launched her food blog in 2012. “People were always asking me for recommendations and I started posting and writing about my discoveries. I love finding odd little nooks as well as the popular restaurants. And when you find something special, don’t you want to announce it to the world? Well, I get to do that with my platform.”
While many in media probably know her cousin Cissy Wang (wife of Donny Yen), there are thousands of followers who recognise her from her culinary adventures. “I’m thrilled when people say they love my food blog. When you model or act, you’re being someone else. My food blog is all me.”
