PRESTIGE PICKS: DRINK IT IN

WHEN IT COMES to the ideal cocktail experience, the importance of location cannot be overstated. Sure, the drink itself is crucial – but isn’t it much more enjoyable when your surroundings encourage you to sit back, relax and simply enjoy the view? Now that summer is here, we’ve picked three bars with stunning outdoor terraces that provide the perfect atmosphere for grabbing some well-deserved drinks.

OZONE
Located on the 118th floor of the ICC, inside The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong , Ozone is likely to be the first name that comes to mind when you think of bars with a view. As the highest bar in Hong Kong, Ozone boasts a spectacular view of Victoria Harbour, which makes it a favourite of both locals and tourists alike. As well as its chic bar and selection of delicious Asian-style tapas, Ozone also has its own private dining room – with a more streamlined, simple design – for those hoping to enjoy the view in a more intimate setting. But its appeal doesn’t lie in its height alone – Ozone offers an extensive wine list with just about every type of vintage you could possibly want, and though its cocktail menu is short, its take on classic drinks are some of the best in town.

SEVVA
For a panoramic view smack in the middle of Central, check out Sevva at the top of Prince’s Building. The best seats in the house are undoubtedly on Sevva’s gorgeous terrace, which is the perfect place to sit, relax and take in the city around you. Its prime location right in front of the famous HSBC building makes it a popular vantage point for various fireworks shows throughout the year, as well as the nightly “Symphony of Lights” show that illuminates many of Hong Kong’s skyscrapers. Intensifying the city experience at Sevva is the selection of signature cocktails inspired by Hong Kong – why not try a Harbourside as you gaze out at that exact view?

SUGAR
Twenty minutes from Central lies East Hotel, and its bar, Sugar, has an appropriately sweet view of Hong Kong’s picturesque mountains, framed by the city’s skyscrapers. For those who prefer a more casual, beach-club vibe, Sugar is the obvious choice – it’s incredibly open and spacious, allowing some fresh air to flow through, and the basic, pared-down design really is reminiscent of a sandy waterside lounge. You’ll even feel like you’re on holiday as you languish in the heat on one of their deep outdoor sofas, dangling one of their signature refreshing cocktails – mint is a staple ingredient in their drinks menu – or a cool glass of white wine.
