Bulldozer Group, the Russian food and drink experts behind hits such as Poehali in Moscow and Cipriani in Dubai, opens its first restaurant in Hong Kong, which debuts officially to the public with a grand-opening party tonight. The new venture is called Seafood Room and occupies an enormous 8,000-square-foot space in Causeway Bay. Above it, there’s a sprawling 2,000-square-foot rooftop lounge with views of Victoria Harbour. The kitchen is headed by chef James Cornwall, who was previously in charge at famous London fish restaurant J Sheekey.
We visited the restaurant during its soft-opening phase this week, and are happy to report that not only does the seafood earn top marks – favourites include the tuna carpaccio with foie gras and truffle, as well as the miso salmon – the desserts are more than just supporting characters. Don't miss the baked vanilla cheesecake, which may sound boring in comparison with options like a peanut butter crunch bar or yuzu tart, but steals the show easily.
