Chee Hean Teo

Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore

Teo Chee Hean is Singapore's deputy prime minister, coordinating minister for National Security and minister for Home Affairs. In these capacities, he signed a letter of intent last year with French Minister of the Interior Manuel Valls to enhance cooperation and exchange information on law enforcement matters and to share best practices in policing and training. The two confirmed their countries' commitment towards countering transnational crime and international terrorism as Singapore prepares to open the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation this year. The complex will function as a R&D lab, training facility and forensics lab for all things cybercrime and will be part of the larger Interpol Singapore Center. Teo, who began his career in the Singapore Armed Forces, holding various command and staff appointments in the Navy before moving into politics in 1992, also oversees the National Population and Talent Division, and the National Climate Change Secretariat. In the sports arena, he is the president of the Singapore National Olympic Council and advisor to the Singapore Dragon Boat Association.
