Peter Lim



Stockbroker-turned-investor Peter Lim is 10th on Forbes 2013 list of Singapore's 50 Richest and 736th among the World's Billionaires, with an estimated net-worth of $2.60 billion. The son of a fishmonger who earned the title "Remisier King" for his success on the stock market on behalf of his mainly Indonesian clients, Lim made his fortune in 2010, cashing out on his holdings in Wilmar for $1.9 billion. His investment vehicle Rowsley is now being transformed into a real estate player. In 2013, it completed a $545 million acquisition of RSP Architects and 9.23-hectare of prime waterfront land in Iskandar, Johor. The land is part of Vantage Bay, owned by a 70-30 joint venture between Lim and the Johor royal family. Lim also has stakes in the $1 billion motorsports venture FASTrack Iskandar, health care chain Thomson Medical, Chinese property developer Yanlord Land, retailer FJ Benjamin and sports automaker McLaren Automotive. A well-known philanthropist, he set up a $10 million scholarship in 2010 under the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF) to nurture local sports talents. Promising footballer Adam Swandi was among last year's 320 recipients.
