Dawn Ng

Artist

You might be familiar with Walter, the colossal white inflatable bunny with a knack for popping up in the uncanniest of places across Singapore, turning everyday scenes into places of whimsical wonderment. Now meet the artist behind this rebellious rabbit: Dawn Ng. Having been dubbed the tour de force of the local art scene, Ng’s sometimes irreverent — but always inspiring — creations have gone on to receive numerous commissions from the Singapore Art Museum. She has also staged solo and public exhibitions, including her latest work Windowshop, a collection of nostalgic curiosities and knick-knacks from Singapore’s yesteryear, at the Chan Hampe Galleries Singapore. Despite her portfolio, Ng hates being called an artist. “It stands for too much and nothing at all at the same time,” she says. “I like creating things and I plan to do that for the rest of my life. What you call a person who does that is irrelevant.”
