Bhupendra Modi

Global Chairman

As founder and chairman of the Spice Global Group, Bhupendra Kumar Modi heads a US$2 billion conglomerate of telecom, finance and entertainment technology businesses. He ranks 24th among Singapore's 50 Richest, according to Forbes, with an estimated net-worth of $850 million. In 2013, the India-born industrialist turned his attention to healthcare, setting up India's first “super speciality” hospital, Saket City Hospital, in Delhi. The 1,000-bed hospital is expected to be completed in mid-2016. Modi plans to set up more hospitals around the country, and has purchased land in Punjab and Mumbai with this in mind. He is also among the 26 aspirants vying for a licence to set up a bank in India. Modi laid the foundation of his business empire in 1981 when he set up Graphics India in collaboration with Xerox. In the past three decades, he has forged joint venture partnerships with global giants such as Alcatel, Telstra, Olivetti and, more recently, Telekom Malaysia. In July, Modi was presented with an Ambassador for Peace Award at the Global Citizen Forum in London.
