VERSACE

The house of Versace shines - literally - on the red carpet. The label is a favorite of Hollywood A-listers, and its couture line, Atelier Versace, is where Donatella Versace is always at her best, a master at creating lavishly embellished goddess gowns that make any starlet look like the ultimate screen siren. For spring/summer 2016, the Milanese doyenne offered her clients a series of stunners ranging from Grecian column gowns featuring Swarovski rope details to a smattering of body-con short dresses with Versace signatures such as skin-baring cutouts and harness-like bodices. The closest thing to daywear was the group of sharp-shouldered suits that opened the show and a heavily beaded bomber jacket worn by model du jour Lineisy Montero. With its stellar casting of glamazons and an empowering soundtrack of a female voice singing, "I move to the beat of my own drum," this was a strong Versace collection that will make a lot of celebrity stylists swoon. We wouldn't be surprised if most of the gowns are already on their way to their natural habitat, glitzy LA, where after a few alterations here and there - not many celebs can pull off thigh-high slits and sheer minidresses, after all - they will help crown their wearers as best-dressed of the season.
