5 Watches To Ward Off Monday Blues

Now, this is the kind of blue we approve of.

Let’s face it. No one likes Mondays. Unless, of course, you’re sitting on a private beach somewhere in the Maldives with a piña colada in hand, overlooking the vast Indian Ocean. That sea of blue? Perfect. But for those who aren’t, here are five new wristwatches with equally beautiful blue faces.

Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe from Blancpain

Blancpain
First created in the late 1950s, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe diving watch gets a colour update this year. While bearing the same vintage-inspired aesthetic as its 2013 predecessor, the new timepiece comes in deep blue shade that recalls the colour of the ocean. Driven by the calibre 1150, it is equipped with two series-coupled barrels that grants it a power reserve of about 100 hours and a silicon spring balance for added timekeeping precision.

Midnight Diamond Drops Automatic 29mm from Harry Winston

Harry Winston
Showcasing its expertise in gem-setting, the Midnight Diamond Drops Automatic 29mm displays an intense blue dial with sunray satin-brushed finish, decorated with 96 brilliant-cut diamonds (approximately 0.16ct) arranged to resemble falling snowflakes on a winter night. Six brilliant-cut diamonds and single emerald-cut diamond (weighing around 0.03ct in total) are set on its indexes while the 18k white gold case is adorned with an additional 64 diamonds (about 0.66ct).

Reverso One Duetto Jewelry from Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre
Giving its classic Reverso timepiece an extra sparkle, Jaeger-LeCoultre adds precious gems to the 18k white gold case and dial of the Reverso One Duetto Jewelry. Brilliant-cut diamonds totalling about 1.2ct are found on the case’s iconic gadroons, as well as on both faces — one featuring white Balinese mother-of-pearl and the other, blue opal — of the wristwatch.

Mare Nostrum Acciaio – 42mm from Officine Panerai

Officine Panerai
Officine Panerai revisits its very first chronograph with this special reproduction of the Mare Nostrum. Featuring a 42mm steel case and deep blue dial, it references a previous model released in 1993 and is powered by the OP XXXIII calibre (created on the ETA 2801-2 base with a Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module). Recalling its vintage predecessor, the watch is presented in a wooden box with a screwdriver enclosed within and available in 1,000 units only.

Jade "Lionfish" from Ulysse Nardin

Ulysse Nardin
First introduced in 2013 as a watch designed with women in mind (thanks to the manicure-friendly UN-310 calibre that does not require any pulling of the crown for time adjustment), the Ulysse Nardin Jade is now offered in a unique Cloisonné enamel version. Christened “Lionfish”, the rose gold watch presents a marine inspired dial design that is executed with the help of the Donzé Cadrans enamel specialists and framed with a bezel set with 56 diamonds.
