1. Alila Fort Bishangarh Jaipur, India
Opening: First quarter 2017

Set in Fort Bishangarh, Alila Fort Bishangarh in Jaipur sits on a granite hill with a breathtaking view of the Rajasthani landscape. The boutique resort is equipped with 59 suites, each one custom-designed for guests to get the most out of the view from the large windows. And to inject some culture and heritage into your holiday, the resort also organises day visits to historic palaces, temples and forts. Be sure to check out Spa Alila, which is located in the dungeon within the fort and carved out between granite rocks.

2. Ani Villas Dominican Republic — Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic
Opening: Mid-2017

Located in the central north coast of the Dominican Republic, the Ani Villas Dominican Republic boasts a mix of tropical design and contemporary finishes, with a touch of Dominican heritage. The private 14-bedroom resort is designed by Estudio Sarah Garcia and will feature plenty of living space. Its four acres will comprise a spa, sports facilities such as swimming pools with water slides, tennis court and gym, and a large event pavilion. It will also offer world-class pampering with its private chef and 24-hour butler service for a truly relaxing holiday.

3. Banyan Tree Bodrum  — Yalikavak, Turkey
Opening: Spring 2017

In collaboration with Turkish real estate developers Nef Bodrum, Singapore-based luxury resort group Banyan Tree Holdings has opened its first residential resort in Turkey. Boasting a magnificent sea front location in the Bodrum peninsula (known for its coastline and beaches), Banyan Tree Bodrum will be fitted with 70 rooms, including 14 spa suites with a private pool. Not forgetting its award-winning Banyan Tree Spa, this property will offer the “Rainforest experience” concept for hydrothermal therapies and wellness, and Turkish Bath at its 2,000-sq-m spa.

4. Kandima Maldives Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives
Opening: February 2017

Giving a touch of excitement to a lazy beach holiday, Kandima Maldives is packed with a wide range of offerings that caters to the free-spirited and fun-loving sojourner. If you’re a foodie, the resort presents 10 bars and restaurants to suit a variety of preferences. Recreational options here include water slides, tennis, badminton and squash courts, a 24-hour gym, a spa complete with steam room and sauna facilities, yoga studio, marine biology school, art studio, kids club, games room, photo studio and a library — yes, told you it’s a wide range. Take a 30-minute seaplane flight from Malé International Airport and a 20-minute boat ride from the Dhaalu Atoll airport to get to the resort.

5. Rosewood Luang Prabang Luang Prabang, Laos
Opening: Late 2017

Travellers who enjoy communing with nature will love this. Just a 10-minute drive away from the historic Unesco World Heritage Site it is named after, Rosewood Luang Prabang is situated within a forested setting accompanied by a river and waterfall. With 22 accommodations that include a choice between eight deluxe villas, three garden villas, six private pool villas and five luxury tents, the resort encourages guests to be one with the natural surroundings, boasting features such as open-air showers, tubs and living rooms.

6. Six Senses Bhutan   Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang and Paro, Bhutan
Opening: Spring 2017

There’s a more meaningful way to journey through the Happiest Place on Earth with Six Senses Bhutan. Comprising five individual satellite resorts in five different locations, the property allows guests to move between the capitals of Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang and Paro to experience the heritage and hospitality of where they’re at. Thimphu emphasises culture in its design, while Bumthang brings elements of the outdoors inside, with its timber walls and warm recycled wooden floors. The more traditional Punakha offers the charm of a traditional farmhouse, while Gangtey allows guests to get up close with feathered friends at the bird-watching bridge. Finally, gather with fellow travellers at Paro, the site of old stone ruins, to share about the experience around an open fire.

7. The Fontenay  Hamburg, Germany
Opening: Autumn 2017

Named after American shipbroker John Fontenay, The Fontenay is the first five-star hotel to open in the German city over the last 18 years. Consisting of 131 rooms and suites, each one boasting floor to ceiling windows and a balcony with the view of the lake, the hotel is located on the banks of Lake Alster just a 10-minute walk from the city centre. F&B offerings include an all-day dining restaurant, a gourmet eatery offering cuisine from a Michelin-starred chef, and a rooftop bar. Also on the roof is a full-service spa spanning 10,000-sq-ft and an indoor-outdoor infinity pool.

8. The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya Hainan, China
Opening: Early 2017

One of four new properties by Autograph Collection Hotels, Marriott International‘s portfolio of independent hotels, The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya is located in the Dadonghai Bay area, which is also close to the city centre, so guests can have the best of both worlds: A relaxing beach holiday with the excitement of a cosmopolitan city. The five-star property has been designed to exude style and glamour, taking inspiration from water drops, the ocean and corals. Other hotels opening this year by Autograph includes The Majestic Hotel and Hotel Stripes in Kuala Lumpur and Ryse in Seoul.

9. The Silo Cape Town, South Africa
Opening: March 2017

Part of The Royal Portfolio hotel collection, The Silo is set to be the coolest new hotel in Cape Town. Built in the grain elevator portion of the soon-to-launch Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (opening in September this year), the ultramodern hotel will only be fitted with 28 rooms, each one offering dramatic waterfront views. Facilities include a library, spa and gym, as well as a swimming pool, sky terrace and resto-bar on the roof, with views of Table Mountain.

10. Villa Samadhi Singapore Singapore
Opening: January 2017

Surrounded by the greenery of Labrador Nature Reserve, boutique hotel Villa Samadhi Singapore is housed in an heritage colonial garrison, taking visitors away from the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan city-state. Fitted with just 20 rooms, the rustic property exudes the elegant charm of old Malaya with tropical surroundings, while being equipped with modern amenities.
