A peek into Meridiani’s latest collection

The Italian brand’s 2017 releases at Milan Design Week remind us that true style is for the ages.

It’s all about harmony with Meridiani’s newest furniture collection — the past with the contemporary, timeless elegance with novel interpretations.

Designed by Meridiani art director Andrea Parisio and unveiled at the Salon del Mobile Milano in April, the 2017 collection also pairs its apt display of sophistication, functionality, tailoring skills and commitment to quality — hallmarks of the Meridiani lifestyle universe — with a greater emphasis on personalisation.

An early favourite at the fair was the Timothy modular sofa, defined by its elegant proportions, soft cushions, saddle leather covered panels and feet, and bronzed brass embellishments. A versatile seating system, it can be configured by the customer to suit their specific needs or desires. Those who find the idea of chaise longues appealing can opt for sectionals without backrests, while those who enjoy hosting guests can include practical surfaces such as a coffee table or low container unit that come in a variety of finishes.

Also strong in functionality is the Ruben storage unit, a series of wall-mounted compartments with clean, pure lines. Offering great flexibility, the modular units come as drawers, open compartments or with drop-leaf doors for containing or displaying wares. A wide variety of material options, ranging from woods, lacquers, bronzed brass to marble, also encourages you to let your inner designer out.

Other key pieces in the collection include the Hector linear sofa, a classic piece made contemporary by its depth and low seating; the Owen table that comes either in a standard dining height or lower “lounge” version for a more informal setting; the Odette dining chair with a removable cover; and the Isabelle armchair characterised by an enveloping backrest.

After sneak previews at M&O Paris and IMM Cologne, the aptly named Blend indoor/outdoor collection was also given a fitting showcase at the Salone del Mobile. Its innovative use of handwoven and stitched saddle leather together with rope, wood, aluminium and even concrete, conjures new visual and tactile suggestions that are sure to enliven any space, inside or outside the home.

By harmoniously mixing the time-tested with the new and allowing ample room for personalisation, Meridiani reminds us that good design transcends time and fashion.
