At the Jewellery and Jadeite Spring Auction by Tiancheng International, almost 280 lots of jewellery and jadeite pieces totalling US$28 million will be up for sale on June 12 in Hong Kong.
Leading the auction is a magnificent jadeite necklace, composed of 108 perfectly round and intensely green jadeite beads. Titled One Hundred and Eight, the superior-quality court necklace is inspired by Buddhist prayer beads and measures approximately 1,750mm in length. Court necklaces were part of court costumes in the Qing dynasty, in which officials ranked level four and above were allowed to possess or wear the jewellery piece. This jadeite piece is the most valuable item on auction and is expected to fetch $2.3 million-$3.2 million.
Another show-stopper of the auction is this necklace from Graff Diamonds. Set with an exceptional 61.72-ct light yellow VS2 clarity triple excellent diamond named the Cape of Good Hope, it comes from South Africa's Cape Colony. The necklace is further complemented by 39 diamonds totalling 54.60ct and is estimated to go under the hammer for between $2.05 million and $2.56 million.
Alongside this esteemed auction sale, Tiancheng International also presents the Magnificent Jewellery Charity Auction ─ Kat Florence & Sarah Jessica Parker. This event will see 38 desirable gems up on offer without reserve, including some of the largest coloured gemstones ever to appear at auction.
One of which is this Natural Mozambican Paraiba Tourmaline Necklace. To further accentuate the beauty of the stone, jewellery designer Kat Florence has set sparkling diamonds weighing approximately 23.80ct to resemble ice flakes. Expected to fetch $360,000-$487,000, the 91.43-ct vibrant bluish-green piece is touted to be the largest Paraiba tourmaline to ever appear at auction.
Additionally, a portion of the auctions proceeds will be donated to A Drop of Life, a non-profit organisation founded and registered in Hong Kong. The funds will be used to improve the water supplies to the arid northwestern regions in China and provide a better learning environment for students affected by the earthquake in Nepal.
