Singapore's first Prime Minister and former Minister Mentor
Lee Kuan Yew was Singapore's first prime minister and one of history's longest serving politicians, holding various ministerial positions over five decades. In 2013, Lee published two books — The Wit and Wisdom of Lee Kuan Yew contains almost 600 quotations that provide a summary of his views on a wide range of topics on Singapore and the world. In the 400-page One Man's View of the World, Lee shares his views on the future of the major powers and regions of the world. This 11-chapter volume has been endorsed by former US Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and George Schultz among others. One Man's View of the World adds to Lee's other books, which include My Lifelong Challenge: Singapore's Bilingual Journey (2011), Lee Kuan Yew: The Man and His Ideas (1998) and his two-volume memoirs, The Singapore Story (1998) and From Third World to First (2000). 2013 saw Lee celebrate his 90th birthday. In honour of the occasion, three major Chinese community organisations (the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Business China) came together to present him with the Business China Lifetime Achievement Award.
