Clovis Lim

Not yet 25, Clovis Lim first made his mark in the F&B industry when he co-founded the Sugar Daddy Group, which is behind pattiserie-restaurants Antoinette and Pique Nique. Since selling his shares in the venture, he has poured his efforts into the Soul Group, his new vehicle that has launched PasarBella, the $4 million Western-style farmer's market at The Grandstand.

Inspired by New York's Chelsea Market and Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria in Barcelona, PasarBella has over 70 independent stalls selling meats, fresh seafood and cooked food, among many other goodies. “It was something that Singapore didn't have yet,” he notes: “And it wasn't easy to find a space of this size.”

Working towards building long-term value, the Finance graduate is already cooking up subsequent concepts at the Soul Group. “What I want to build is a powerful and valuable brand that offers individuality and differentiates itself from the rest,” he says. Lim advises young entrepreneurs to look out for and identify opportunities and to “grab the right one when it comes along.” Just don't take on more than can be handled. “You don't want to find yourself unable to take up a better opportunity if it comes along.”
