Those who've been following Donatella Versace's work in recent seasons – or follow her on Instagram – know that sports and fitness have been on her mind lately. Starting with her spring/summer 2016 haute couture show and then again in her autumn/winter 2016 womenswear collection and the spring/summer 2017 men's one, she's been toning down the glamour and offering athletic-inflected pieces that – and feel – like a breeze. It definitely felt like a "breeze" when Edie Campbell opened the show clad in a tight jumpsuit worn under a nylon windbreaker billowing at her sides. The sport theme continued with leather parkas, printed hoodies, nylon ruched dressed held together by drawstrings and Teva-like platform sandals. Except for a few delicate pleated dresses and the odd sexy number with slits up to the waist embellished with buttons, it was a relatively sober outing from the designer. The glitz came at the end – a stunning black dress, worn by Mariacarla Boscono, featured panels of mesh crystals that gently caressed her body. But the look that defined the show was the final one, worn by Gigi Hadid: a sexy mini dress encrusted with crystal chain mail worn over a navy nylon parka. Sporty glamour like only Versace can do.
