De Beers

British magnate Cecil Rhodes founded The De Beers Group of Companies, or simply De Beers as it’s better known, in 1888 in South Africa, and almost immediately it became the world’s leading diamond company. Today, De Beers is based in Luxembourg and continues to be widely recognised for its timeless diamond jewellery, in particular its engagement and wedding rings. While exquisite jewellery is the company’s calling card, De Beers also holds a prominent role in diamond exploration, mining and trading, and it has even expanded its social mission to help economies, such as Botswana’s, diversify.
