Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson, the man and brand, is almost single-handedly credited with saving the Thai silk industry from extinction in the middle of the 20th century. Even before the famous American’s mysterious disappearance in 1967, luxurious, hand-woven Thai silk had won the hearts of interior designers, couturiers and stage costume creators in Europe and the US. Carrying on the philanthropic entrepreneur’s vision, his staff expanded the operations to the point where, today, Jim Thompson boasts over 3,000 employees and several distinct operations, including the Jim Thompson House & Museum, numerous retail shops in Thailand and abroad, and Jim Thompson Fabrics, a label that specialises in home décor.

The company produces seasonal fabric collections on top of its regular items, which include silk scarves, neckties, handbags, wall coverings and children’s toys.
